The Skahazadhan is the great river of Slaver's Bay, a wide, muddy waterway that defines the eastern boundary of Meereen. It flows past the city's many-colored brick walls before emptying into the bay, and its waters are the lifeblood of the region, connecting Meereen to the Dothraki sea and the lands beyond. For Daenerys Targaryen, the river is both a vital resource and a constant source of peril, a natural moat that her enemies use to strangle her rule.

Geography and Strategic Importance

The Skahazadhan is a broad, slow-moving river, its waters described as muddy and turbid. It separates Meereen from the grasslands to the east, where the Dothraki roam. The river's width makes it a formidable natural barrier, and its banks are dotted with fishing villages and the estates of the Ghiscari nobility. The old Valyrian road runs beside it, a remnant of a lost empire. The river is also a key trade route, but during the siege of Meereen, it becomes a front line. The Yunkai'i and their allies establish a slave market on its southern bank, a deliberate provocation that Daenerys can see from her city walls.
